inside the cylinders, must be dispersed on the outside: the cooling circuit is responsible for regulating engine temperature.

During combustion, inside an engine, temperatures of between 1700°C and 2500°C are
reached, and some of the heat is transmitted to the cylinder walls, the
pistons, the engine head and the valves. If these parts are not
sufficiently cooled, they could reach high enough temperatures to cause
them damage, putting the engine function at risk.
Thermal energy is dissipated using a liquid coolant
which heats by circulating through the engine's various spaces. The
coolant can also directly cool the engine lubrication oil or the
transmission oil in vehicles with automatic transmission.
This fluid takes heat from the engine and disperses it to the outside air using a special exchanger: the radiator.

The purpose of the radiator is to cool the engine and keep it at the optimum running temperature, ensuring efficient engine function over a prolonged period with improved energy efficiency.
It is almost always located at the front of the vehicle, near to the air intakes, in order to make the most of the dynamic effect created by the speed of advancement.
For much of automotive history, the radiator was the most visible
part of the engine, with a distinctive style, adorned with an emblem and
chrome plated. Nowadays it is located underneath the bonnet and the
front fairing and is better protected against accidental impacts.
Basically, the radiator is made up of two tanks connected by a series of tubes, through which the coolant fluid runs, circulated by the water pump, which is actioned mechanically by the engine itself.
This increases the air flow passing through the
radiator when the vehicle is travelling at low speed or is stationary.
The fan is located near to the radiator and is only activated when
needed, when the engine cooling circuit temperature reaches a standard

The heating radiator, or the heater, is an integral
part of the climate control system, but it is fed by the engine cooling
circuit. It uses the heat contained in the coolant at high temperatures
and provides heat to the passenger compartment when the passenger
compartment fan control is activated.The heater is always present, both in climate controlled vehicles and heated vehicles.
The water pump ensures the circulation of liquid throughout the circuit, providing the coolant with the pressure and flow it needs whatever the running conditions.
It takes its power from the timing belt and its rpm is linked to the engine rpm;
it functions right from when the engine is first switched on, even if
it is cold and there is no actual need for the coolant to circulate. To
prevent unnecessary cooling, the thermostat therefore intervenes to open
the flow of coolant towards the radiator, only once a very precise temperature has been reached.

Unsuitable fluids may be inefficient from a heat exchange point of
view, and provide inadequate protection against corrosion, leading to
the subsequent deterioration of the various surfaces in the cooling
circuit. They may also be ineffective in preventing the dangerous
phenomenon of cavitation.

The engine coolant pump works as an active component in
harmony with the timing components because it is driven by the toothed
belt. The moving parts of the water pump, like the other components, suffer the same wear and tear over time. Leaking coolant can cause a rapid decrease in cooling capacity. A red gauge will light up on the dashboard to indicate the high temperature. As soon as it is safe, you must immediately stop your vehicle, switch off the engine and call Roadside Assistance.
As well as radiator malfunction, excessive coolant temperature may
also be caused by faults in other system components, such as the water
pump or the fan. We recommend that you have your cooling system checked regularly
at an Authorised Service Centre, to check the function of the radiator
and the cooling circuit components (including the tubes and sleeves).
