The battery an energy source that
allows us to start the vehicle and power the on-board accessories.
Nowadays, the battery is one of the main elements that determines the
correct operation of the car's electrical components and electronic
Original batteries by Mopar® are designed to offer optimum electrical integration: an efficient and balanced system conceived in line with the specific characteristics of your Fiat Professional.
Manufactured from maintenance-free rolled lead/calcium alloy grids, vehicle batteries use a polyethylene separator to insulate between the positive and negative grids. They are manufactured using 100% recyclable materials. The battery’s capacity, expressed in Ah
(ampere-hours), is designed to supply the energy required to start the
car, even in extreme climate conditions. An original battery ensures
increased reliability, driving peace of mind and improved safety for
everyone on-board. Taking care of your battery and ensuring regular
checks can avoid unpleasant surprises: a need for roadside assistance is
most commonly caused by faults in the ignition system, including
failure to start.

Benefits of Mopar® original batteries include:
To protect our environment, European legislation is committed to reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, in order to achieve the challenging target values of 130 g/km fixed for 2015.
For the sixth year running, Fiat has achieved first place in Europe for its reduction in CO2 emissions, with a level of 119.8 g/km.Fiat has been helped to hit these targets with the introduction of Start&Stop
technology, the system that automatically stops the engine every time
the vehicle comes to a standstill and restarts it when you resume
The benefits of this system lie in the reduction of CO2 emissions and the saving of fuel,
both in congested traffic and during repeated stops at traffic lights.
In typical urban use, fuel consumption may be reduced by up to 10%.
The differences between traditional batteries and Start Stop batteries are substantial.
Start Stop systems are fitted with sensors which continuously monitor the battery status and send signals to a control unit which, in real time, decides whether or not to activate the system. When the vehicle is stopped, the engine and the alternator switch off, but the battery must power the electrical devices such as the lights, the windows, the radio and the hazard lights.
If the battery cannot withstand the stress of frequent stopping, the
system does not activate and battery functionality is reduced by 50%.
Start Stop activates half of the amount of times it should, with a direct effect on consumption.
Start Stop batteries must allow for 15-20 times more start-ups than
standard batteries, and this is made possible by the optimisation of the
plate assembly: the thickness and the number of plates are designed to
offer the optimum balance of power and cycling.
The advanced engineering of the battery is crucial if we are to make the most of the Start Stop technology: when replacing your battery, just like for original equipment, be sure to choose only Mopar®.
As we reach winter or the colder temperatures approach, a weak battery may not provide sufficient energy to start a cold engine.
The best preventive measure is to carry out a check of the battery and recharging system every year, in order to ensure full efficiency during winter. Any Fiat Professional Authorised Dealership or Service Centre
can check the efficiency of your battery through the diagnosis socket.
If you need to replace the battery on a vehicle fitted with Start
Stop technology, we recommend that you follow the instructions in the
owner handbook exactly.
Vehicles with Start Stop are fitted with an IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor) integrated with the battery, which assesses the charge status and health of the battery. These two parameters guide the Start Stop system in the activation and deactivation of the function.
The IBS has an internal map linked to the specific Start Stop battery
assembled as original equipment: using a different battery may lead to
false readings and incorrect estimations of the aforementioned
parameters, affecting the Start Stop strategies in the vehicle's electronics.
It is therefore recommended that you replace Start Stop batteries
using original spare parts with the same technical characteristics as
the initial system.
If you begin to have difficulty starting your vehicle, it may be necessary to replace the battery,
because a battery near to the end of its life cycle may no longer be
capable of accumulating the energy produced by the alternator. To extend your battery life:
Battery fluid is extremely poisonous and corrosive. Always have your battery replaced by the team of professionals at Fiat Professional's Authorised Service Centres, fully equipped for the disposal of your old battery in total respect for the environment.
The first indicator is the battery symbol warning light
which flashes when the engine is running, especially upon acceleration
with the engine in neutral. When the vehicle is in motion, the indicators and lights will start to operate with anomalies, until the engine is switched off.The car will struggle to start and there will be electrical component anomalies.
